She Persisted (June Freebie + $5 Printable)
Nevertheless, she persisted. I know I'm not the only woman out there who feels like this phrase could just very well be the subtitle for her current season of life. Amiright? You know, there are days when we feel God's presence so strongly, when joy seems to come easily, when blessings flow unbridled. Oh, those days. Those seasons! But what about the days you don't feel His presence at all, when you feel like you just can't get ahead, when that thing you've been asking and believing for is still not here? What then? Well, what if we still got to enjoy LIFE living in faith?! In persisting. In knowing that He doesn't waste a thing. In full confidence that He cannot lie and what He has promised, He will do. In all assurance that He works together for your good. In faith. In a perseverance that promises to bring hope that doesn't disappoint (Romans 5:3-5). I'm not saying it will be cake. But we can choose it over disappointment and discouragement.
"Your true commitment really starts when things begin to suck." -Nicole Montez
A few days ago in my morning time with Jesus, the Spirit directed me to Luke 18. The first verses of that chapter share a story Jesus told about a nagging woman who wouldn't leave the community judge alone. She wanted justice and protection from her oppressor and she was gonna demand it until she received it. You know I've heard this story a hundred times and for the first time this week I learned that it is not one of comparison but contrast. The judge in this story is a thick-skinned, godless man with little compassion and empathy. We aren't in a kingdom with a Judge like that! Our God is willing and ready to hear our cries and requests. He's hungry to be in relationship with us. He's compassionate. And we aren't poor widows like the woman in the story. That's not how God sees us anyway. We are His own!
You know, that persistent old widow got her needs met by that compassionless, worldly judge. So how much more will our Father, full-of-love, meet our needs? "He will not delay to answer you and give you what you ask for. God will give swift justice to those who don't give up. So be ever praying, ever expecting...keep praying and never stop or lose hope." (Luke 18:7-8, 1, TPT)
"If you don't quit, you win." - Heidi Baker
Nevertheless, she persisted...
in raising her kids
in her marriage
in making time to be alone with Jesus
in prayer for breakthrough
in overcoming that addiction
in waiting for the answer
in waiting for the promise
in choosing will over want
in walking in fullness
in approaching the Father with confidence
in pursuing that dream you know God gave you
when it gets really hard and you want to walk away
when you're completely alone standing for what's right
when everybody thinks you're a weirdo
in practicing who you want to be
"Until now, you've not been bold enough to ask the Father for a single thing in my name, but now you can ask, and keep on asking Him! And you can be sure that you'll receive what you ask for, and your joy will have no limits!" (John 16:24, TPT)
"Jesus said to him, 'If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.'" (Mark 9:23, NKJV)
"So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever." (II Corinthians 4:16-18, MSG)
"That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good." (Romans 8:28, MSG)
