My favorite challenges to kick start your new year!

Is it just me or do you love a fresh start? The beginning of a new month, a new season, a new year. It’s like a chance to hit the mental reset button.

Or maybe you kind of loathe the idea because it signifies more unmet goals and expectations? Hey, we’ve all been there.

I want to encourage you today to take a deep breath and let go of the pressure to do it all just right.

Goals are great, but if you’re feeling overwhelmed by them, what if you instead just took the first month of the new year to get your focus where it should be?

These online challenges/studies/groups are designed to help you do just that. If you will invest in yourself and put in the time, I guarantee the challenge you pick will help you start 2020 with intention, fresh insight and expectancy!

One more thing.

Each of these are very different from each other but they’re all spiritual in nature. Because for me personally, it’s all about doing life from the inside, out.

What do I mean? Well, like instead of creating a laundry list of goals (external) while you’re hurting and afraid and overwhelmed, you instead center your attention on getting your heart healed and your thought-life renewed (internal).

When we do that, somehow all the other stuff just starts to work itself out. Instead of striving to be more hope-filled or more bold or less stressed out, those things just start to naturally well up inside us as a byproduct of letting God begin to heal what’s going on in your inmost parts – your spirit and soul.

So, without any more delay, here are my top three favorite online challenges to start the new year!

31 Days of Wisdom

Lead by Pedro Adao, a personal friend and mentor and founder of the largest online community of kingdom entrepreneurs, along with Brian Simmons, the lead translator of one of my favorite versions of the Bible, The Passion Translation, this challenge is a daily live and interactive journey through the book of Proverbs. The entire challenge will take place on Facebook in a private group where hosts will go Live every morning in the month of January focusing on a different chapter. If you can’t watch the Live’s, replays will be made available.

They also have an incredible lineup of some of my favorite people/leaders/teachers too: Kris Vallotton, Jennifer Allwood, Doug Addison, Dan McCollum, Dave Martin, Shanda Sumpter, and lots more. Throughout the 31 days, each of them will be sharing their own personal testimonies and revelation from book of Proverbs.

Wisdom is the most valuable commodity—so buy it! Revelation knowledge is what you need—so invest in it! Wisdom will exalt you when you exalt her truth. She will lead you to honor and favor when you live your life by her insights.
— Proverbs 4:7-8

21 Day Brain Detox Challenge

Dr. Caroline Leaf is one of my favorites – and without a doubt a major forerunner – in the field of mental health. In a nutshell, she studies the mind-brain connection and it’s pretty powerful. Her 21-Day Brain Detox Challenge is designed to help you overcome anxiety, stress, and toxic thinking by helping you find the root of toxic thoughts and habits, eliminate them and rebuild healthy new thought patterns. (Did you know you can literally rewire your brain? It’s true.)

In this challenge, everything takes place in an app. Each day, a guided audio track will be provided that’s anywhere from 7 to 30 minutes long. In addition, you’ll receive daily tips via email and access to a private Facebook group. If you are looking for lots of scriptural references, you won’t find them in this challenge though the concepts are saturated in biblical principle. They do offer an optional Prayer Journal alongside the app/challenge and you can find that here.

Starts: January 1, 2020

Cost: The app is free but you will need a subscription to participate in the challenge ($69.99 per year; auto renews but you can cancel anytime).

I Do Hard Things

We are all going to face hard things in life, but what if, instead of feeling paralyzed by the fear and pain associated with those hard things, you had a plan of action to climb out of your suffering and learn to dream again?

Cost: The online study is free but you can also purchase her book to enhance your study here.
