Choosing joy when you just don’t feel like it

I’ve been thinking about the power of choice lately.

A lot of us are living in a set of circumstances right now that we probably wouldn’t choose.

Community looks different, church looks different, socializing looks different, heck, even running errands looks different. It can take a toll on a person if we give it the power to.

These are the moments when we really have to dig deep and determine what it is we’re gonna focus on. The peace, the joy, we have to be intentional about choosing it. We always do, I know, but would you agree even more so when our feelings don’t align?

If you aren’t quite “feeling it” today, just wanted to bless you with some practical ways you can choose joy. Try a couple out and watch your peace-meter rise and your joy-well fill.

• Go serve somebody ⁣
• Find the beauty in something small
• Be present
• Let go of certain expectations
• Smile. Laugh.⁣
• Practice gratitude
• Embrace imperfection
• Spend time with Jesus
• Speak truth over yourself
• Dance like nobody’s watching and you wouldn’t care even if they were
• Focus on the good stuff

What would you add? Did any of these make a difference for you? Let me know in the comments below.

x, Melissa
